John Lee Hooker

Blues legend, John Lee Hooker had a long career. Making his first record in 1948, he released his last album in 1997, passing away in 2001.

This image was shot in Dublin's National Stadium in 1989, the only time he ever played in Ireland. He said he wore shades onstage so his fans "wouldn't see him crying" while he was performing.
